Please be advised that Mountain Ave from Plainfield Ave to Hillcrest Ave in Berkeley Heights/ Warren Twp will be closed to through traffic due to construction. The date and duration of the project are referenced above. Affected residents and busnesses should be aware that there may be mobilization and prep work on the part of the contractor about a week or two in advance of the actual start day. This activity should have little or no impact on local traffic.

The work being performed will consist of replacing a culvert superstructure beneath the roadway. Due to the nature of the work involved, the amount of workers and machinery required, full road closure 24/7 will be necessary for a period of approximately 60 days in the area of work during the 4 month long project to optimize the safety of the work crews and motoring public alike.

A clearly marked detour route will be established and maintained by our contractor. Emergency vehicles and pedestrian traffic will not be allowed through the work zone during the full road closure and should plan accordingly. Access to residences, including deliveries and other services, in the work zone will be allowed as much as possible.

The County recognizes the inconvenience that any road construction may cause and apologizes for any difficulties encountered. The County shall make every effort to have the work completed as soon as possible.

Should you have any traffic questions, please call our contractor at (201) 440-1118 during normal business hours. If any emergencies should arise, please contact your municipal Police Department.

Regular updates for the various phases of construction and their impact on traffic will be posted if and when they become available. Bookmark this page to stay informed.
